Wynnum Redlands Cycling Club (WRCC) has its base on the east side of Brisbane, an ideal area for both recreational and serious cycling. We attract both recreational cyclists and competitive cyclists, but all strive for one common purpose - that is to enjoy keeping fit on the bike and meeting new friends and social contacts. As such we cater for a wide range of cyclists and have club rides which would suit almost anyone, young old, fast or slow. Our race teams are well represented in most categories in the Queensland cycling league including open categories, juniors and masters. If you want to find out more about WRCC, you can email any of the Club contacts in the CONTACTS section of this website.
Rides departs from McDonalds in Capalaba at 5.30am sharp and heads to Camp Hill, across to Cannon Hill then Tingalpa, down to the esplanade at Wynnum and Manly before heading through Thorneside, Aquatic Paradise and Wellington Point. The ride then heads for Victoria point before finishing at Banjos Bakery in Cleveland. Subject to Safety provisions, there are a number of intervals and a sprint on the road at Cleveland point for those with the remaining energy. Visitors are always welcome but will be riding and participating on their own risk
A social ride departs from the Cleveland Library (0630hrs) and heads for Carbrook where it Splits into 2 groups (Fast & Moderate) continuing to Redland Bay, Victoria Point and Cleveland Point finishing at Banjos in Cleveland. Visitors are always welcome but will be riding and participating on their own risk

Brissie to the bay 2010 - a message from MS Australia

Hi WRCC

My name is Amy, the events coordinator for the Brissie to the Bay bike ride.

I just wanted to say a huge thank you for your support this year! The $2,680 you raised for people with MS was a brilliant effort and we appreciate it very much! It also helped us beat our fundraising goal of $300,000 as we are now sitting on $315,700 to assist people with MS, so well done!

I’ve attached a photo that was snapped of you guys on the day too, I hope you like it!

From all of us at MS QLD thank you for your support, and we hope to see you again next year!

Happy riding

Avanti Classic 2010 - Chris Neal

Hi All,

Rob Green was credited with a 14th place at the Avanti Classic 2010 last week-end. Upon checking the results on the web Rob realised that he was a bit further down the field. Rob notified Lifecycle to make them aware of the mistake and to offer to pass on the price money to Chris Neal.

Lifecycle have let Rob keep the money, which he has donated to the MS Brissie to the bay fund and Lifecycle have sent another check to Chris...

Congratulations to both Rob and Chris.

Come and Tri Day - Nundah Criterium Circuit

Presented by the Wynnum Redlands Cycling Club - July 18

Objectives for the day are to introduce new participants to the competitive cycling environment i.e. rules, events etc. but also provide events for the WRCC membership. The absolutes we must have are all safety based:

1.       All bikes are roadworthy

2.       Everyone has and use an Australian Standards Helmet

3.       Juniors rules apply i.e. gear restrictions (which we can help with), clincher tyres and only standard wheels

4.       Standard Bars only for Crits with access to brakes whilst on the bars or drops. If someone has a set of Tri bars on we will likely allow it in the Crits but they must not be used at any time. Tri Bars which include the Brakes and Shifters will only be allowed in the Time Trials.

Regards

Russell Hinwood
