Wynnum Redlands Cycling Club (WRCC) has its base on the east side of Brisbane, an ideal area for both recreational and serious cycling. We attract both recreational cyclists and competitive cyclists, but all strive for one common purpose - that is to enjoy keeping fit on the bike and meeting new friends and social contacts. As such we cater for a wide range of cyclists and have club rides which would suit almost anyone, young old, fast or slow. Our race teams are well represented in most categories in the Queensland cycling league including open categories, juniors and masters. If you want to find out more about WRCC, you can email any of the Club contacts in the CONTACTS section of this website.
Rides departs from McDonalds in Capalaba at 5.30am sharp and heads to Camp Hill, across to Cannon Hill then Tingalpa, down to the esplanade at Wynnum and Manly before heading through Thorneside, Aquatic Paradise and Wellington Point. The ride then heads for Victoria point before finishing at Banjos Bakery in Cleveland. Subject to Safety provisions, there are a number of intervals and a sprint on the road at Cleveland point for those with the remaining energy. Visitors are always welcome but will be riding and participating on their own risk
A social ride departs from the Cleveland Library (0630hrs) and heads for Carbrook where it Splits into 2 groups (Fast & Moderate) continuing to Redland Bay, Victoria Point and Cleveland Point finishing at Banjos in Cleveland. Photo's from Sausages Sizzle at Cycle City

The traditional Ekka Day ride was washed out by rainy weather. We had planned to do a "bridges of Brisbane" ride devised by Case (The Fox) Scholtes which would have included a ride over the new Gateway bridge. This ride has been postponed into the future.

The ride was planned to end at Cycle City in Cleveland where we held a sausage sizzle in order to support our Silver Sponsor, Henry Engelbrecht who owns Cycle City and Cycle Scene.

Despite the ride being washed out the sausage sizzle was still held. Thanks to Bryan Byrt Automotive Group for once again loaning us their BBQ trailer.

Henry put on a number of special deals for club members. Thank you to those members that made the effort to turn out to support our Silver Sponsor, and all enjoyed the bargains and the food.

Cycle City’s monthly newsletter.

Welcome to Cycle City’s monthly newsletter.  It is always good to share some of the stuff happening in the world of cycling, here and all over the world.  There is quite a few races coming up the next few weeks and we here at Cycle City want to wish all the competitors good luck and remember: keep the rubberside down!!!  There is some wild training going on at the Sharks Tri Club.  The Half-Ironman is not far away and some serious interval training is happening.  Hope you all do very well.  Some of the best road events on the racing calendar is coming up – this Saturday there will be a few WRCC members involved in the Cunningham Classic across all the categories. Keep that Red train moving.  In about a month and a half’s time, the Grafton-Inferell 50th anniversary race is on.  6 or 7 of the WRCC guys will race and try to finish it before the sun goes down.  In between then and now we have the state championship and the world championships in Geelong.  Keep it healthy and stay out of trouble and all will go well and if it doesn’t, there is always next year.
