Wynnum Redlands Cycling Club (WRCC) has its base on the east side of Brisbane, an ideal area for both recreational and serious cycling. We attract both recreational cyclists and competitive cyclists, but all strive for one common purpose - that is to enjoy keeping fit on the bike and meeting new friends and social contacts. As such we cater for a wide range of cyclists and have club rides which would suit almost anyone, young old, fast or slow. Our race teams are well represented in most categories in the Queensland cycling league including open categories, juniors and masters. If you want to find out more about WRCC, you can email any of the Club contacts in the CONTACTS section of this website.
Rides departs from McDonalds in Capalaba at 5.30am sharp and heads to Camp Hill, across to Cannon Hill then Tingalpa, down to the esplanade at Wynnum and Manly before heading through Thorneside, Aquatic Paradise and Wellington Point. The ride then heads for Victoria point before finishing at Banjos Bakery in Cleveland. Subject to Safety provisions, there are a number of intervals and a sprint on the road at Cleveland point for those with the remaining energy. Visitors are always welcome but will be riding and participating on their own risk

Visitors are always welcome but will be riding and participating on their own risk

Mel won the open ladies state duathlon titles last weekend

Mel won the open ladies state duathlon titles last weekend (her first duathlon race). In fact Mel also beat the National champion (the nationals were on two weeks earlier) and picked up $1,000 for her efforts.

He splits were-

10km run 39:27
40km ride 68:57
5km run 21:47

overall 2:10:11 with a 2 minute margin over the current national champion!

Mel actually started walking with 2km to go and collapsed over the line dehydrated. The day was hot and windy as those would confirm who rode the States on the weekend.

Thanks to Marcus Neil for the update

New map service

Brent Fletcher (Captain Fletch) & Paul Hattink have been working on producing some google maps that will help our new members understand the route each ride takes. These maps also include information about the terrain, difficult sections and even the points where riders can take a short cut to stay in contact with the main group.

Check these maps by selecting ROAD -> TRAINING MAPS  and select the map you want to explore!

Cunningham Classic

The Cunningham is a major event on the Queensland Cycling Race calendar and in its 27th year of operation. The only major hurdle with this event is it is not “out and back” so logistically a support person is generally required to either take the Riders car to the finish or pick up the Rider at the race finish – approx 95km from the start.

Send little Pete up the Tower...

Or help him to come down again...

Hello Friends

I am going Up the Tower and need your support to be rescued (and in turn Surf Life Saving). By clicking on the web address and making a donation online I will be able to get down. Everyone who donates will receive a thank you email and a tax deductible receipt. I don't want to be up there all day so I am putting my faith in all of you to get me down, I am taking extra food, blankets and sunscreen just in case you all happen to be away.
