Queensland Road Teams Time Trial

Dear Secretaries,

Please find attached information pertaining to the 2010 Queensland Road Teams Time Trial Championships. This year the event will be held at Tent Hill on Sunday 19th September.  As this is the biggest event on the calendar the support of as many volunteers as possible will be a great help.
Clubs are encouraged to use the online entry system to register your teams and a step-by-step guide for doing so can be found below.

How to Register a Team Using the CQ Online Entry System

  1. Select a team manager (CA licence holder) whose duties are to obtain the licence numbers and correct spelling of team member’s surnames.
  2. Go to http://www.qld.cycling.org.au/onlineentries & click Online Race Entry Member Log-In.
  3. Team manager must enter the Online Entry System using the surname and licence number of one of the eligible riders.
  4. Register Team Manager and Team Name – Change the licence number from the rider’s licence entered in step 3 to the team managers licence number and select a team name.  If the name has already been used it will prompt you to choose a different name.
  5. Confirm Team Manager – The team managers’ details are displayed.  Edit any details that are incorrect.  Click ‘NEXT’ to confirm.
  6. Write down the Race Code and Team Name displayed.  Follow the link to the login page.  Hint: If you lose the details you will receive an automated email containing the link, race code and team name.
  7. After entering the correct race code and team name the manager should add each rider to the squad including any reserves (max 6).  Once riders are finalised the manager should “Register and Pay” for the team entry. Please note Once the team is registered and paid no further adjustments can be made to the team.  If you are unsure of your team make-up please Save & Exit selections & come back when the team is finalised, but ensure this is prior to 5th September. Hint: Use the URL provided in the automated email to edit team
  8. Once the Register and Pay button is pressed the system will ask you to confirm the amount to be charged.
  9. Any further changes to squads should be made on Form B and handed in at Registration 30 minutes prior to race.  All squad changes prior to race day should also be advised to Matthew Gillett This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it in writing to ensure transponders can be made available.
  10. Payment must be finalised by Credit Card (MasterCard, Visa or Bankcard are accepted).  (If payment is required by cheque, money order or cash please use the Manual Team Race Entry Form). Enter Card Number & Expiry Date and Click ‘Pay Now’.
  11. A tax receipt will be emailed to the Manager’s email address entered in Step 5.  If you experience difficulties please call the CQ Office (07) 3390 1477

Other important details are:

ü  Each Team Member must represent the same club and have been a bone-fide member for a period of at least two months.  In exceptional circumstances (e.g. change of residence or new memberships), such requirement may be waivered by the CQ Board on written application.  If the rider is a new member to cycling this rule does also not apply.

ü  Teams must comprise of three or four riders.  The final time for each team is taken on the third rider of each team across the finish line.

ü  FORM B must be presented thirty minutes (30) before the starting time for each event, with the four licences from each team.  Also, the support vehicles for each team must be registered with the Racing Secretary, along with the driver of same and coach for each team.

ü  Each team must have an official, acting as an independent observer from another club following in the support vehicle.  Club personnel are requested to arrange this official and register him/her on FORM B.  Should the team not be able to locate an independent observer, NO VEHICLE AT ALL is to follow the team.

Late Breaking Cycle Queensland News: Entries still open

We're looking for a few more friends to join us on Cycle Queensland 2009 in September - so we've decided to waive the late entry fee until Thursday 20 August.

(Think of it as our way to lessen the burden of the GFC!)

So sign up for Cycle Queensland 2009 and pedal away from the everyday on Bicycle Queensland's annual nine-day holiday on wheels.

The ride starts in Toowoomba on Saturday 5 September. This year it's a 560km loop around the Darling Downs with quiet country roads and rural townships full of character and charm.

Go to www.bq.org.au/cq/ for details and online entry. Entries will definitely close on 20 August - so ENTER NOW!

Epic Cycles: $25 voucher offer

Epic Cycles is once again coming on Cycle Queensland as the "mechanics and bike shop". And in the lead up to Cycle Queensland 2009, Epic Cycles is offering Bicycle Queensland members and supporters a $25 voucher.

All you need to do is spend more than $50 (in one transaction) before the end of September.

To register for your voucher, simply send your details to Epic Cycles by clicking on This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it and writing CQ09 Voucher in the subject line.

To help Epic Cycles confirm that your voucher has been created, include your name and phone number in the body of the email. (Please note that by taking advantage of this offer you agree to receive Epic Cycles' email newsletter which you can unsubscribe from at any time and that the voucher is not to be used in conjunction with any other offer.)

Epic Cycles can be found at 81 Baroona Rd, Paddington or give them a call on (07) 3368 2324.

National Ride To Work Day, 14 October

Wednesday 14 October is the day for National Ride To Work Day. Why not give it a go? We can help with everything you wanted to know about riding to work ... but were afraid to ask.

If you're already riding to work and you're keen to encourage new riders, we have plenty of resources including a PowerPoint presentation and flyers.

Go to www.ride2work.com.au for details.

Volunteer opportunities with Bicycle Queensland

BQ runs great events to get more people cycling more often. To do that, we rely on the support of hundreds of Bicycle Queensland members and cycling community members.

Some take annual leave each year to assist on Cycle Queensland, our 9-day holiday on wheels. Some wake up amazingly early to help set-up a start site, or a rest stop, or a finish site. Some stand on a corner on a bike route as marshals, encouraging cyclists and showing them the way to go.

If you have ever wanted to help increase the profile of cycling, here's a chance to be part of our great events. Email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it and let us know which of our events (Cycle Queensland, Wilson HTM Brisbane to the Gold Coast Cycle Challenge, Ride to Work Day) you can assist with.

Thanks, and happy cycling!
