CCR Newsletter 020910

Just a quick newsletter today for I am too tired to sit upright.  GI training is taking its toll.  After our stint to Mt Tambourine on Saturday, I did not have much energy left to do any more km’s.  if it was not for Russell, I would most probably not have made it back to my house.  Thanks Ironman Russell.

Tuesday morning ride saw me only doing ‘half’ laps around Raby Bay and for that reason, I am now the proud owner of THE SHAME doll aka SHREK.  For those who don’t know anything about the SHAME doll – don’t worry, don’t get involved, because one day it might just come your way.  So, today was my first day bonding with my new friend – I had a lot of time to bond with him and we had a good talk – all 173km of talk.  He did tell me that he really like my bike and consider putting in a motion to the caretaker(Paolo) to stay on this beautiful SCOTT ADDICT.  I can’t blame him – he has been on pretty ordinary bikes the past year, that black Ribble is just not comfortable and that green Marida, he told me is too slow.  The Shame did tell me a couple of time on my ride this morning to go slower – he is not use to that kind of speed. I am now considering a name change and he wholeheartedly agreed – THE KEISER.  After the ride, I gave him a chance to sit on my new Selle SMP and he had to fight back the tears as no one of the previous owners gave him that opportunity, maybe because they know their seats are not comfortable – he really enjoyed sitting there and asked me if Selle is doing one of those in his size as well.  Hopefully next year.  Tonight he will most probably have his own bed, made by my lovely 8 year old daughter. I don’t know if I am going to get it back though – we’ll have to see in the morning.

Enough!!!!  Now to the good stuff.   Saturday morning rides with WRCC is 05h00 from Capalaba – a good thing.  We sold a couple more of those Selle SMP’s and the feedback has been great – “the best seat ever” , “I have struggle to find a seat for 10 years – this is the first one that suits me like a glove – the best investment I’ve made in a long time”.  Remember, we have TEST saddles available – come book one please – they are currently all out, but will be back soon.

Bling bits – yes, personalise your ride now with some anodised colored bits – apart from the usual bits I spoke about last week, we have now tubes with anodised valve extenders – how good will that look with the colored valve caps!!!  They are available in MTB and Road tubes.  We will have colored titanium bolt soon – watch this space.

We, here at Cycle City wish you all the best for the coming weekend and remember – keep the rubberside down.

Photo's from Sausages Sizzle at Cycle City

The traditional Ekka Day ride was washed out by rainy weather. We had planned to do a "bridges of Brisbane" ride devised by Case (The Fox) Scholtes which would have included a ride over the new Gateway bridge. This ride has been postponed into the future.

The ride was planned to end at Cycle City in Cleveland where we held a sausage sizzle in order to support our Silver Sponsor, Henry Engelbrecht who owns Cycle City and Cycle Scene.

Despite the ride being washed out the sausage sizzle was still held. Thanks to Bryan Byrt Automotive Group for once again loaning us their BBQ trailer.

Henry put on a number of special deals for club members. Thank you to those members that made the effort to turn out to support our Silver Sponsor, and all enjoyed the bargains and the food.

Cycle City’s monthly newsletter.

Welcome to Cycle City’s monthly newsletter.  It is always good to share some of the stuff happening in the world of cycling, here and all over the world.  There is quite a few races coming up the next few weeks and we here at Cycle City want to wish all the competitors good luck and remember: keep the rubberside down!!!  There is some wild training going on at the Sharks Tri Club.  The Half-Ironman is not far away and some serious interval training is happening.  Hope you all do very well.  Some of the best road events on the racing calendar is coming up – this Saturday there will be a few WRCC members involved in the Cunningham Classic across all the categories. Keep that Red train moving.  In about a month and a half’s time, the Grafton-Inferell 50th anniversary race is on.  6 or 7 of the WRCC guys will race and try to finish it before the sun goes down.  In between then and now we have the state championship and the world championships in Geelong.  Keep it healthy and stay out of trouble and all will go well and if it doesn’t, there is always next year.
